Other Orienteering Events

Besides the official Sprint , Middle & Long distances - there will be a number of
other events available for you to stretch your legs and have fun as well.

Urban Hunt

You might have participated in a 'Trivia-O' before.  Well - consider this a Trivia / Score-O with a difference.   We don't want to say too much to give anything away - but this will be a fun event to kick-off the weekend.   It involves urban orienteering , trivia , participation check-points, a mass start  - and getting to know the town of Sundre and the people that live there.

The Urban Hunt is best run in small teams of 2 to 4 people, but you can always run it by yourself - and we can form teams at the start.

Afterwards , we'll get together at a restaurant in Sundre for a gab and a bite to eat.

James River Children's Retreat Evening Events

Since everyone will be staying together during the weekend, we will put on fun orienteering events using the site.  A map is being made of the Retreat grounds.

Sprint Challenge Event  -

Challenge friends , challenge enemies - challenge someone you wanted to beat earlier in the weekend.  A great way to finish the WCOC's. 

This will be quick 3-5 minute courses - with the entire course viewable for spectators.  Each time you run the course will be different.  There will be more information coming for this event - including a photo of the entire map area - so stay tuned.  You will not want to miss this WCOC finale event.

Model / Beaver Lake

If you need even more of an orienteering fix, we will have a training course
set-up on a nearby map that is not being used for any competition.  This course will be available Friday , Saturday and Sunday for your pleasure.

There will also be a small section of the Coyote Canyon map that will be made available as a model map before the Middle and Long distances.  There may or may not be a model map for the Sprint distance.
