Good News !!  You don't have to find your own place to stay !

We've booked the James River Children's Retreat, about 20 minutes drive
north of Sundre. It's so big - it has space for
everyone (indoor space for almost  300 people).  Even better - it's less than a 10 minute drive from the staging area for the Middle and Long Distance events.   We've booked the Retreat for Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights.

The James River Children's Retreat is operated by the Alberta Foster
Parent Association. It's been used in the past by the AOA for holding training camps (many many years ago).

The Retreat has a mixture of cabins, a large lodge , and even has space for those that wish to camp or bring their trailer.  Staying indoors is the easiest accommodation option - you only need to bring your sleeping bag.  Rooms have bunk-beds, with normally 4 to 6 people per room.  But the lodge is so big that it's very unlikely your room will be full.  We are able to arrange for families to have a room or cabin of their own if the wish.

On top of all that, the camp has a ball diamond, soccer field , even a
mini-golf course. I'm sure we'll include some of those in the fun
orienteering events to be held in the evenings.

You are free to make your own accommodation arrangements if you wish, but with this great location why would you want to ?

FOOD

The main lodge has a dining hall and big common room - so all the meals will be there including the banquet.

All meals will be provided for you , so no need to pack a trunkful of coolers.  We've arranged for breakfasts, bag lunch , snacks - and dinners on Saturday & Sunday.

If this camp atmosphere sounds familiar - you probably were at Barebones
in 2007 at Camp Chief Hector ( but sorry Marie-Cat , no rooftop patios in
Sundre that we know of...).

BANQUET

Sunday night will be a good 'ol Western BBQ -hosted by Kodiak BBQ.

Ribs, chicken & brisket with all the fixin's.  Make sure to build up an appetite after the Long distance earlier in the day.
