Join Us for AOA's 50th Anniversary Orienteering Event!

Celebrate five decades of orienteering with the AOA at our special anniversary event, designed for all skill levels. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned orienteer, we have fantastic courses waiting for you.
Event Details:

Location: Sandy MacNab, a breathtaking venue with stunning forest views and a newly updated map. (Staging will be at the Group B Campground)
Dates: August 24-25 , 2024. Join us for one or both days of the event.

What's in Store:

Courses for Everyone: from beginners to advanced orienteers, there's something for everyone, even for small groups to head out together. Great terrain, beautiful views and world class courses.
RETRO Event : let's have some nostalgic fun. Wear your best 70s and 80s orienteering kits and headbands to revive the old spirit of orienteering.
Awards and Championships: special awards and a memorable medal crafted specifically for this event. Compete in the long and middle courses to vie for the overall champion title. Just as in the historical way of combining both days' results to name the champion, you must attend both events for the awards.
AOA BBQ: enjoy a Saturday smokies BBQ sponsored by AOA.
Optional Camping: 11 units available for participants at the Sandy McNab Group B campground for Friday and Saturday night. One unit can include one car free and two tents up to 6 people. Grab a friend or family and book a unit together.

SATUDAY, AUGUST 24, 2024

Long Event:11am -3pm
BBQ: 3pm sponsored by AOA
Retro Event: 6:30pm-9pm

SUNDAY, AUGUST 25, 2024

Middle event: 10am -1pm
AWARDS: The champions and podiums will be announced after the two event (Long and Middle) overall aggregate place.

COURSES:

There will be 8 different courses for age classes for the championships title
For beginners or recreational participation, we are offering 6 Open courses to choose from that matches your experience level.
Open categories do not have awards. Open 1 is the easiest category recommended for children or someone with no experience and a short distance (1km). Open 2 and 3 suitable for forest beginners depending on experience. Open 3-6 is more and more complex in technical difficulty and distance. It can be completed alone or in small groups. One registration will provide one map. If more than one map is needed, register each individual who wants to have their own map.
