Bogi believes that for kids to grow up happy and healthy, they must spend significant time outside. She takes her kids along to do her favorite activities which includes mountain biking, hiking, paddle boarding, orienteering and xc skiing. Bogi is the AOA Executive Director and orienteering for many years. She has a B.Ed. Degree in Physical Education and over 15 years of coaching background. Why should you try orienteering ?
Community Better Challenge: come walk with us for an hour!
- June 20, 5:00 pm
- Location: Nose Creek Park
- Must register (free) in advance: REGISTER FOR TRY IT HERE
- You will receive a brief instruction
- You can try a couple of learning activities
- You will get a map and head out for a self-lead mapwalk to try a beginner orienteering course. All of this would take around 1 hour.
- This is a family event. Parents/ guardians need to supervise their children.
Why should you try orienteering ?
- Engages the mind & body with emphasis on fun
- Builds competence and confidence to be outside, for life.
- Teaches navigation and map reading skills.
- Helps to connect with our natural environment.
- Gets everyone moving outside with a big smile.
AOA Matching Donation Campaign
- The donations are fully matched by the Government of Alberta and 100% goes back to the sport.
- Donors can select the sport, cause/programs they want to support

- It is a charitable donation, so Tax receipts are issued right away to the donors.
- The donation process is very simple and quick, online donation.
- AOA will use 100% of the proceeds to donate back to the clubs as requested by the donors.

- 6 Weeks program fee: $ 60/person
- Location: Barrett Park and RDP parks
- The program is designed for children ages 6-12y and the kids will be arranged into groups considering their age, peers and experience.
- After 6 sessions we will add a free family invite, where we would like to invite families and friends to join us for a walk in the park to show off the navigation skills we have learned.
- Our program is based on the goals and principles of the of the Canadian Physical Literacy & Long-Term Athlete Development model.
- Each session includes 3 stations: physical literacy games, agility/endurance skills and navigation stations.
- Ask us about the AOA Grant to support underrepresented groups to subsidize registration fees ( including Indigenous Peoples, members of visible minorities, newcomers, low-income households and people with disabilities). As part of the CANADIAN TIRE JUMPSTART program we can provide help with the registration fees.

Our insurance policy have several requirements for orienteering events, including submitting a daily online health declaration. Please fill out this form daily before the activities.
