AOA Safe Sport Framework

AOA Safe Sport  Guiding Principle
AOA is committed to policies and practices that make orienteering in Alberta safe for everyone. Participants, athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers have the right to a safe, accessible, and inclusive environment free from abuse, harassment, and discrimination. The Safe Sport framework emphasizes education, prevention, and response, supported by clear policies and procedures to ensure all members can enjoy a fun, healthy, and safe experience.

Adoption of the Alberta Safe Sport Complaint Mechanism ( AB SSCM) and the Alberta Universal Code of Conduct ( AB UCCM)
The AOA Board of Directors and each of the AOA clubs' Boards approved the adoption of the Alberta Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (AB UCCM). This provincial code aligns with the national universal code of conduct and sets clear standards of behaviour for all participants in our sport. The Alberta Safe Sport Complaint Mechanism (ABSSCM) now serves as our independent third-party complaint management. To learn more, visit the ASLA Site.
Adopted policies and  the updated  AOA policies are below :
  • Alberta Universal Code of Conduct ( AB UCCM)
  • Alberta Safe Sport Complaint Mechanism ( AB SSCM)
  • AOA Code of Conduct
  • AOA Complaints, Dispute and Appeal Policy
