What is Orienteering?
Orienteering is one of the greatest outdoor activities, combining physical movement with mental challenge. It helps people connect with nature while building confidence and competence outdoors. Using a map, participants navigate to a series of checkpoints—running or walking as they choose. It’s fun, family-friendly, and open to all ages and abilities, but also offers tough competition for athletes and adventure racers. Originating in Scandinavia over a century ago, orienteering is now enjoyed worldwide, with international events and World Championships. A map, a forest, and you—what could be better?
