AOA Safe Sport Framework Guiding Principle
AOA is committed to implement policies and procedures to ensure that orienteering in Alberta is safe, follows the True Sport Principles and is open to everyone.
AOA believes that everyone has the right to enjoy the sport of orienteering and participate in its events to learn, develop and have fun at whatever level or role they choose to be involved. Participants/athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers have the right to take part in a safe, accessible and inclusive sport and recreational environment that is free of abuse, harassment and discrimination.
The safe sport framework focuses on three key areas: education, prevention and response, all of which will be supported by policies and procedures. The goal is to ensure that all members and participants, have the resources and access to a fun, healthy, inclusive and safe environment.
