Sign up to Volunteer: volunteer waiver
Why is this important?
The AOA Volunteer Policy is a framework for our volunteer program management. It helps define the role of volunteers within the organization, and how they can expect to be treated. On this page you will find links and recommendations to help you understand more about managing risk related to volunteering in orienteering activities.

AOA  encourages their volunteers to review the below documents:
  • OPEN & OBSERVABLE ENVIRONMENTS POLICY
  • SAFETY RULES & RECOMMENDATIONS
  • VOLUNTEER PROGRAM POLICY & SCREENING
 Educational materials
  • SAFE SPORT FRAMEWORK The RCM Pledge:
Coaches and volunteers in youth programs must be familiar with  this policy and practices:

About the Police Information Check (PIC):
  • What is it?: Information and how to apply.
  •  Not all volunteer roles require a PIC. General volunteers who work within a group environment along the side of coaches only required a PIC if it is requested by the coach. Please email us to confirm if you are unsure.
  • Email us for a Volunteer Application support letter if you  are applying for PIC at your municipal district
  • If your volunteer role requires Police Information Check there is an easy online process for a fee.  See below link. Otherwise you can apply for your PIC at your local Police  Services.
